Medicaid, Blood Pressure, Shopping & More
It’s been a couple weeks since I’ve blogged. We switched servers so the site was down for a while and I have just not felt like writing. I’ve not been very motivated to post. Any improvement I previously had in fatigue, lethargy, exhaustion and the moody “Blah” feeling has evaporated over the last 3-4 weeks. Also it seems very few; if any people care that I am doing this blog site. But I guess its good for me; help me keep my head straight.
Having my over the counter Omega Oil supplements again has slightly decreased the joint pain and stiffness. I have been finally approved for Medicaid and a state financial aide program (which is about $250 a month and doesn’t roll over each month) so now I think I can get the MEGA DOSE prescription ones my doctor gave me. With out med coverage they cost over $100 and are not covered under my previous county health plan. So tomorrow morning I need to go see if I can get them, before I head off to Rob’s.
So what’s happening over the last few weeks?
Tuesday August 29th I saw my rheumatologist, Dr.Dowd. He didn’t give me much insight into why I am having joint/bone/muscle pain and problems. Except that he often sees, severe vitamin deficiencies in people with similar complaints to mine. Yet he can’t explain what causes the deficiency.
My blood pressure readings were scary it was 170+/102; I’ve never had severe high blood pressure before only since June? Did it go up a little to 130+/90+. The nurse took my pressure on both arms, then after asking me barrage of questions took it again just to make sure.
All Dr.Dowd did was order me to have another blood test to check my Vitamin D level, prescribe more MEGA DOSE Vitamins D and Omega 3 oils.
Wednesday the 30th I went to a Planned Parenthood Clinic because switching among all these insurances I haven’t found a gynecologist and was due for another Pap test to make sure my “atypical cervical cells” have not metastasized into cancer. I have to get Pap tests every 4-6 months instead of once a year. They took my blood pressure too; it was 150/100 still quite high but at least went down some. Even though I had an appointment I had to wait over an hour to actually get my exam done, but the doctor was very quick and this time it didn’t hurt too much.
Sunday September 3rd I went to a Rob’s Families Labor day/fare well Picnic. One of his cousins is in the military and being shipped over seas. Paul my brother in law is also in the military and being shipped to Iraq on the 21st of this month.
Monday Labor Day Rob, Melissa and I spent the afternoon at my parent’s house. It was just us 3, my parents and my godparents were there for a brief time. While here Melissa was playing on my computer and talking to Nick the guy who she kept canceling dates on. So even though I didn’t feel well (I’d had dizzy, woozy, surreal feeling all day and was having mild gallbladder attack again) I agreed to drive us 3 to a bar in Ann Arbor to meet Nick for a double date. When we got there, we met Nick he seemed a nice, pleasant, polite guy. Not a hunk of a guy but not bad looking either. Melissa said she wasn’t going to drink and she would drive back. I guess her initial thoughts were she didn’t want to get drunk in front of this guy she just met. Get to know him.
Rob started ordering shots for me to drink with him, while Melissa proceeded to get herself quite drunk. Nick drank a couple beers. Maybe Melissa was very nervous or maybe she has a problem stopping because once Nick ordered her a drink (and she changed her statement of “I’m not drinking” to “I’ll only drink this one” ). But she didn’t stop drinking and I realized she had no intention of stopping. So I stopped drinking and let Rob and/or her have the shots and I drank a gallon of water to flush the alcohol out, so I could drive home. Despite being a bit annoyed over the “communication” problem and quite freaked over not having a clear head to drive, I still had a good time.
I didn’t have a hangover but for 2 days my gallbladder was extremely angry and even though I used half bottle of Tums and couple does of Maalox I was still urping up acid and bile.
Late afternoon Wednesday I took Rob back home, we went to Asian Buffet that serves Chinese and sushi. I ate sushi, a little soup and some stir fried veggies and nearly a soup cup full of GARI, pickled ginger. It’s a side to sushi; you eat a small piece to cleanse the pallet between bites. It’s very good for digestion and made the acid/bile problem go away.
Over the weekend I went shopping with Mom at the Tanger Outlet Mall. She needed some new shoes and was looking for new cloths for school. Inkster school has given the Teachers a dress code, even though they don’t enforce one for the students.
I couldn’t find anything I liked in my size. One pair of shoes on display I absolutely loved but they only came in children sizes, WHATS UP WITH THAT?! Another pair I liked but they were over $100 I can’t afford that and they didn’t come in my exact size.
Then we went to Target were I spent $40; I bought a new purse $20, some bath and beauty stuff and some mechanical pencils on clearance. They have like an inch long push up eraser. I hate how on most mechanical pencils you get tiny erasers, you can buy more graphite refills but it’s so hard to find erasers refill. The purse is really nice it’s attractive shiny faux black leather, easy to keep clean and is big enough to hold the medical files I need to lug around.
Because I couldn’t find any shoes at the Mall, I went online. I found some boots on clearance. I would have preferred black but all they had left were 2 sizes and in dark purple. It happened to be they had my size and purple is one of my favorite colors. They cost me less than $30 with shipping. So I’ll have boots for winter, which the farmer’s almanac says is going to be a very extremely cold and heavy snow winter for us.
For about 2 weeks now I have been talking to a new friend in Egypt, George. He was named after Saint George. I make lots of friends through yahoo groups and other sites. Many of them are from foreign lands; I like to talk to people of different cultures, so I can learn more about the real world out there not just what the media tell us. What’s unusual about him is he is Christian and knows English very well and he is intelligent and polite. Too often you deal with stumbling conversation because of language barriers and quite a few men often initiate a conversation because they are interested in “adult” chat. Those types can be especially annoying when you clearly tell them you are not single, not looking for cyber just pleasant cultural exchange and they won’t quit until you block them. But I am glad I met George, he is teaching me quite a bit about his culture and society and I feel uplifted and enlightened after having conversations with him.
My week ahead Tue-wed go visit Rob and Sat help Melissa throw a surprise 60th Birthday party for her mother, which her brother refused (with much abusive language) to assist with either financially or labor wise. Melissa says this is often his behavior yet he will then try to take credit for the event if it goes well. Anyway so she needs someone to help her set up the tables and decorations at the Church parlor, she has other friends going the cooking, she purchased 2 sheet cakes and I need to drive her because her mother won’t recognize my car.

Good luck with that Party thing.
Why is this girl throwing this party? Her mother treats her like hell, steals from her, verbally and emotionally abuses her… and she is throwing the ungrateful wretch a freaking party out of her own pocket money?
I read your blog. Your sister said to let you know. I know what most of what you are going through - we have many of the same problems at our house.
She said to let you know that too. Ask her about me and feel free to write to me too.
